How it works
For installers Get my free quotes →
The short version

If you only read this bit, here’s the gist:

  • We’re a free comparison service that connects you with vetted Hampshire solar installers. We are not a solar installer ourselves.
  • Quotes, prices, advice, contracts and the actual installation work are between you and the installer. We don’t guarantee their work or set their prices.
  • The info you give us needs to be accurate — installers rely on it to quote properly.
  • You need to be 18+ and a UK resident (and ideally in Hampshire — that’s where our installers operate).
  • How we handle your data is covered separately in our privacy policy.

1.Who we are

EcoCompare is a Hampshire-based solar comparison and lead-generation service. We connect homeowners and businesses who are interested in solar with trusted, vetted local installers. We are not a solar installer, contractor, or surveyor.

Company: EcoCompare Ltd

Company number: 17256288 (registered in England & Wales)

Registered office: Monks Brook, 13/17 Hursley Rd, Chandler’s Ford, Eastleigh SO53 2FW

Contact: enquire@ecocompare.co.uk

In these terms, “we,” “us” and “our” mean EcoCompare Ltd. “You” means anyone using our website or submitting a quote enquiry.

2.What our service does (and doesn’t do)

Our service connects you with up to three vetted local installers who can provide quotes for solar panels, battery storage, or related installations at your property. That’s where our role ends.

What we do

  • Collect your basic details and property info through our quote form
  • Verify your phone number by SMS so installers know they’re contacting a real person
  • Share your enquiry with up to three local Hampshire-area installers we’ve vetted
  • Hand you off to those installers, who will contact you directly with quotes

What we don’t do

  • We don’t install solar panels or do any of the physical work
  • We don’t set the prices — each installer quotes you separately
  • We don’t handle contracts, payments, or financing between you and the installer
  • We don’t guarantee, warrant, certify, or take responsibility for the workmanship, equipment, accreditation, or service of any installer
  • We don’t provide engineering, financial, legal, or technical advice ourselves — anything on our website is general info, not personalised advice

3.Who can use EcoCompare

To submit an enquiry through our service, you need to be:

  • 18 or over. We don’t accept enquiries from minors.
  • A UK resident with a valid UK address and mobile or landline number.
  • Submitting a quote enquiry for a property in our service area — primarily Hampshire and surrounding counties. We may not be able to match you with an installer if you’re outside that area.
  • The owner of the property or have permission from the owner to request solar quotes for it. If you’re a tenant in rented accommodation, you’ll need landlord consent before installation can go ahead.

4.Your responsibilities

When you use EcoCompare, you agree to:

  • Give us accurate info. Installers rely on what you tell us (postcode, property type, roof, energy use, etc.) to give you a meaningful quote. Wildly inaccurate info wastes everyone’s time.
  • Use a phone number that’s actually yours. Our SMS verification confirms this. Submitting someone else’s number is not on.
  • Be reasonable with installers. They’re local businesses with finite time. If you decide solar isn’t for you, just let them know.
  • Not abuse the service. No submitting fake or duplicate enquiries, no scraping the site, no using automated tools, no interfering with how the site runs.

If we reasonably believe you’ve breached these terms, we may suspend or withdraw your access to our service and decline future enquiries.

5.The relationship between you and the installer

This is the bit worth understanding properly.

Once we’ve passed your enquiry to a vetted installer, the rest of the journey — surveys, quotes, contracts, prices, equipment choices, installation, aftercare, warranties — is between you and that installer. EcoCompare is not party to any agreement you enter into with them.

What this means in practice

  • Any contract for solar installation is between you and the installer, not us
  • Any payment goes from you to the installer, not us
  • Any workmanship or product warranty comes from the installer (or the equipment manufacturer), not us
  • Any dispute about the work, price, or service is between you and the installer — though we’d genuinely like to know if something’s gone badly wrong so we can address it on our side

We vet our installer partners (checking accreditations, reviews, and trading history) but vetting is not a guarantee. We can’t monitor every job they do. You should always do your own due diligence before signing anything — check their MCS certification, ask for references, read the contract before signing, and don’t pay large sums up front.

6.Our website

We do our best to keep the site accurate, available, and useful, but we don’t guarantee it’ll be available without interruption or completely free of errors. Sometimes things break. When they do, we fix them.

Any guides, articles, blog content or general information on our site is for information only. It’s not professional advice and shouldn’t be your sole basis for a decision about solar. Always get a proper survey and quote from a qualified installer.

All content on EcoCompare (text, images, logos, design, code) belongs to EcoCompare Ltd unless otherwise stated. You’re welcome to view, browse, and share links to our pages. You’re not welcome to copy, reproduce, scrape, or republish substantial parts of the site without our written permission.

7.Cost

Our service is free for homeowners and businesses requesting quotes. You never pay us anything to use EcoCompare. The installers we work with pay us a small fixed fee for each verified lead we pass them — that’s how we keep the lights on.

Crucially, this fee doesn’t change the price you’re quoted. Installers compete on price and quality regardless, and you’re always free to take any quote, all quotes, or none of them.

8.How we use your information

How we collect, use, store, share and protect your personal information is covered in detail in our privacy policy. It’s written in plain English — have a read.

Short version: we share your enquiry with up to three vetted installers after you’ve given consent, we don’t sell your data, and you can ask us to delete what we hold on you at any time.

9.Our liability to you

We try hard to give you a useful, honest, well-run service. But we’re a small business, and we have to be sensible about what we can take responsibility for. To the extent permitted by law:

  • We’re not liable for any work done by installers we connect you with — that’s their responsibility, contractually and practically
  • We’re not liable for losses caused by inaccurate information you gave us
  • We’re not liable for indirect or consequential losses (loss of profits, business, anticipated savings, opportunity, etc.) arising from your use of our service
  • We’re not liable for delays or failures in the service caused by things outside our reasonable control (internet outages, third-party platform failures, etc.)

None of this affects your statutory consumer rights. We don’t exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or anything else the law says we can’t exclude.

Where we are liable, our total liability to you in connection with our service is limited to £250. We mention this because it’s the kind of thing terms of service have to mention, but realistically: if something’s gone wrong, email us first — we’d rather sort it out than argue about it.

10.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time — if our service changes, if the law changes, or if we just realise we’ve missed something. When we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For material changes (the kind that actually affect what you signed up for), we’ll do our best to flag the change clearly.

If you keep using EcoCompare after a change, you’re accepting the updated terms. If you’re not happy with a change, stop using the service — and if you’d like us to delete what we hold on you, just email us.

11.Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms, and any dispute between us, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction to resolve any dispute, though if you’re a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your home country’s courts.

12.Getting in touch

If anything in these terms is unclear, or you want to talk to someone about how we’ve handled your enquiry, please get in touch:
